We are a Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization (CDMO) with over 40 biotech companies worldwide that have placed their trust in us. We develop and manufacture lentiviral vectors as a European leader working under both EMA and FDA standards. The lentiviral vectors produced by VIVEbiotech are used to treat a range of disorders, including haematological and solid cancers, and rare diseases.

Your role

We are looking for a Business Development Specialist, reporting to the Business Development Manager, with experience in the role. The main mission is to identify and generate new business opportunities for the company, aiming to convert them into new contracts.
Additionally, you will support negotiations with clients for some of the new opportunities that arise when required.

Your responsibilities

  • Identify and generate new opportunities with clients interested in VIVEbiotech’s services, with the ultimate goal of converting these into new contracts and achieving the Annual Sales Plan.
  • Maintain follow-up with VIVEbiotech’s portfolio of potential clients through continuous recontacts using various formats, aiming to uncover new opportunities.
  • Prepare for and attend meetings with clients, whether at VIVEbiotech or the client’s premises, highlighting the company’s unique service and product features and adapting to each client’s specific needs.
  • Participate in negotiation processes with clients, if required.
  • Stay informed about VIVEbiotech’s market, including potential clients, competitors, and technological partners, to effectively perform as a business development specialist.
  • As needed, prepare for and attend several international industry events annually to grow and strengthen VIVEbiotech’s current client portfolio.
  • Align with VIVE culture both within and outside your team: adhering to behavior and teamwork values, client orientation, and continuous improvement in quality, safety, and the environment is essential to being part of the VIVEbiotech team.
  • Proactively suggest cost-effectiveness improvements based on your knowledge, experience, and role execution to help achieve team or section objectives.
  • Report any significant incidents impacting your activity or your team’s to your direct manager.

About you

We are looking for someone with:

  • University studies related to Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Biomedicine, Pharmacy, etc. A Master’s or Ph.D. will be highly valued.
  • Excellent English skills and strong internal and external communication abilities, both verbal and written.
  • A scientific-technical background to engage effectively with VIVEbiotech’s clientele.
  • At least 1 year of experience in sales/business development within the pharmaceutical/biotech industry, preferably in the CDMO sector.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience in tasks such as negotiation, sales, market analysis, and technology scouting.
  • Experience with international travel and attending trade shows and conferences.
  • Continuous learning ability, process improvement mindset, and proactivity in problem-solving and improvement suggestions.
  • Accuracy and independence, along with flexibility and the ability to work quickly and precisely, with a strong client focus and high-quality standards.
  • Teamwork capability and a positive attitude towards change.
